Farm Party Recap
Some 250+ friends and family ventured out to our place June 14 for our first annual farm party.
Dozens of kids took turns riding Trigger, our pony, and played on a stack of square bales, while the teens and adults cruised the potluck spread. (We heard there was pecan pie at one point, but we saw only the pie tin with nary a crumb in it.)
Local musicians Done Doin' Laundry and James Leider crooned from the porch of our storage shed, while our friends Lea Lovelace and Kristen Underwood coordinated face painting and other swell activities. At one point, Ryan led a cow-milking demonstration, to the udder amazement of several guests.
All told, we collectively scarfed down about 97 lbs of roasted pork, 20+ lbs of baked beans, and a whole slew of Kristen's Cole Slaw, which was so refreshing we've decided to include the recipe (see below).
Do join us next year!
P.S. Please drop us a line if you have party photos to add to the album.
